Dear Clients,
In this case, we have received information that the sentencing of the defendants has been postponed from the initially scheduled time.
Here is the updated schedule for sentencing:
- On September 19th and 22nd respectively Joby Weeks’ and Joe Abels’ sentencings were rescheduled to March 12th, 2024.
- Silviu Balaci’s sentencing has been rescheduled to March 13th, 2024.
No reason for the rescheduling is provided on the case docket.
We believe that the delay is primarily due to the technical complexity of the case, as there have been no new legal considerations challenging the culpability of the accused parties. We will continue to monitor the proceedings until their ultimate completion, including compensation awarded to the victims.
